Lily - 3 Years

Our little Goose recently turned 3.  Seems like just yesterday, we were welcoming her into our lives.  One thing is for sure, we haven't been the same since! I wanted a girl so badly, and a girly-girl is what I got!  I can't tell you all the ways that she is diva-licious. I really don't know where she gets it frorm!

At 3, Lily:
-is 30.3 lbs (50%)
-is 36" tall (50%)
-wears 3T clothes, size 9 shoes
-is fully potty-trained, morning and night, for about 6 months now
-fights like cats and dogs with Nixon..those two are oil/water! But, they also love each other deeply
-knows just what to say to get what she wants from anyone in the family
-has been an awesome big sister to Hattie..I was so worried and it seems like she's transitioned better than anyone
-still talks to Cat & Mouse, her imaginary friends
-loves a baby doll..she really can't have enough
-loves to have her fingernails and toenails painted..she can't stand to see them chipped..she'll say, "They don't look pretty, they're messed up"
-still loves to eat "Monkey Arms"...aka Lucky Charms
-will call the boys by their full name when she's mad at them..such a little momma!

Lily Goose, we love you more than you could imagine..you bring just the right amount of girly-girl into our world and I can't imagine our family without you!!

Hattie - 8 Months!

Sweet Hattie Girl is 8 Months old!  I can't believe it.  I keep telling her to slow down a little, but she just doesn't!  She's still such a good baby and if all babies were like her, I'd want to have 20!  She's such a little love muffin, always cuddling up to your neck when you're holding her.  She still hates to be kissed, but she just loves snuggling.  At 8 months, Hattie:

-wears mostly 12 month clothes.
-wears size 3 diapers.
-eats the same number of bottles and baby food containers as last month
-has still not gotten a tooth!
-can sit up very independently, even reaching for toys.
-loves her jump-a-roo.  She goes to town in this everyday and it reminds me so much of Nixon..although she's failed to fall asleep in it like he used to.
-has gotten very attached to her Bernie (sleep blankets).  She is always snuggled up to them when she's asleep at school and when she gets tired at home, that's what she wants to have.
-is getting ready to move up to the 6-12 month old class room at daycare.  They can't move up into that room until they're mobile and well, Hattie has just been lazy!
-loves to get on the floor and play with her brothers and sister.  They're very good at handing her toys that she can play with and mostly she just likes to watch them interact with each other.

Hattie - 7 Months!

Little Hattie is 7 months old!  Time is flying by.  I feel like she was just born.  I think she'll always be a little baby to me because she IS my baby.  She's still sweet as sugar and by far, our best baby yet!  I guess it's good that we're ending on a good note!

At 7 Months, Hattie:
-wears size 3 diapers
-wears 9-12 month clothes depending on the style
-sleeps around 10 hours a night and takes 2-3 cat naps at school everyday.  She hasn't gotten the whole napping at school thing down pat yet!
-can finally sit up independently
-still has no teeth
-eats four 8 oz bottles everyday
-eats baby cereal for breakfast, a fruit and veggie for lunch and a fruit and veggie for supper (Stage 2)
-loves to watch her brothers and sister
-is ticklish everywhere, but especially under her chin
-says Dada
-loves to snuggle under my chin, giving lots of hugs when I pick her up from school.  She absolutely hates to be kissed on the mouth though.  She'll turn her head every time!
-loves to sleep on her side when we lay her down at night.  She automatically moves to that position
-is the loudest one in her class.  She yells all day.  Nothing's wrong, she just babbles extremely loud.  I think it's from all the loud chaos she's used to at home!

The Mama VoxBox

A few weeks ago, I received my second Influenster Voxbox.  This one was tailored to the moms and I was so excited to get my box.  Once I opened up the box, I was surprised at all that in was there.

The box included Belvita soft baked breakfast cookies, Pond's Luminous Finish, Dr. Scholl's for Her inserts, and Annie's microwaveable macaroni and cheese.  I immediately tried the Belvita breakfast cookies.  They are so good! They are really good for you and they actually fill you up, which tends to be my problem.  Especially in the mornings!  I have already bought some more of these and intend to keep getting them.  Next up was the Pond's lotion.  I love it! It feels really light on your face and has a nice tint to give you a little bit of color without going overboard.  To be honest, I haven't tried the inserts or the microwaveable macaroni yet.  Not because I won't try them ever, but I just haven't really had a chance to yet.  I have been so excited about my boxes so far and I really like being able to try the new products that I probably would not try on my own.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Hattie - 6 Months

Hattie is 6 months old!  Half a year!  Where did my baby go?  I still say she's my baby and maybe it's just my denial, but she doesn't seem like a six month old to me.  She still seems like my sweet little baby girl.  At 6 months old, Hattie:

-weighs 15 lb, 1.5 oz (27%)
-height is 25.25 " (19%)
-head measures at 42 cm (39%)
-wears size 3 diapers
-eats 8 oz every 4 hours
-eats three containers of baby food a day..she eats these like a champ..I mean scrapping the bottom!
-has finally moved to her sisters room (they're sharing, but we were scared to do that right away)
-smiles so big when she sees you..seems to recognize immediate family members, even our voices..she'll turn and look for me when she hears me at daycare
-already knows how to work that pouty face when she doesn't like something
-loves to dance, sing, be held!
-is so expressive..from screaming to her facial expressions
-is trying to sit up..mainly because her teachers at daycare are pushing it..I love having a baby, baby so I'm not pushing it at all :)
-wears 6 - 9 month clothes
-grabs and holds onto toys for a brief moment before letting them go

I just love this little baby girl..she can light up a room with that smile!

Hattie - 5 Months

Somehow I missed doing Hattie's 5 Month Post.  I can't imagine why..you know moving, new jobs, new schools..

But anyway, Hattie turned 5 months old without much change, but a lot of change all at once.  At 5 months old, she:

-is wearing size 2 diapers
-eats 7 oz every 4 hours
-eats two containers of baby food a day
-sleeps from around 7:30 pm - 7:00 am
-still has not mastered the nap during the day.  She's good as long as you hold her! :)
-rolls over to get to things she wants
-loves the jumper that we've had since Nixon was little
-wears 6 month clothes
-loves to watch her brothers and sister.  I think she's amazed at how much they talk and play with each other

Nixon - 6 Years Old

Hard to believe my baby boy is 6 years old.  Seems like just yesterday, I was driving this little bundle around every night because that's the only way I could get him to sleep!
He started school this year.  He missed the birthday cut-off by one day, but I think it's going to be a good thing for him.  He has so much energy, so maybe the extra year will end up paying off.  I was a little worried because he was NOT ready to start school at all, but so far, so good.  He's loving every minute of it and he's really picking up fast on everything they're teaching him.  He was actually only in school for two weeks before we moved so he has had two first days, but managed to take both of them on like a champ!

Height: 44.2" (24%)
Weight: 45.4 lb (45%)
Favorite color: blue
Favorite subject in school: Computers
Favorite thing to do: Watch TV
Favorite sport: Baseball
Favorite sports team: ECU
What he wants to be when he grows up: He doesn't know..lol..but then he says scuba diver
Clothing style:  Loves to wear Under Armour, recently getting into the whole high socks with the designs on the back (I think this might come from his older brother!)
Best friend: Bennett
Teeth lost: 3
Adult teeth: 2
Favorite food: broccoli
Favorite snack: jolly rancher chews

Nixon is definitely my child that keeps me on my toes at all times.  He's such a little love muffin that loves to cuddle, but his non-stop energy can tire out the strongest person.  I think school is going to be good for him.  He's a very social child, so he loves meeting all these teachers and new friends.  I can't wait to see how much he learns in this first year.  His excitement for everything is infectious and you can't help but get excited about things with him.  He's been my little butterbean from Day 1 and I can't imagine this little family without him in it.

Landon - 8 Years Old

On July 13th, my oldest baby Landon turned 8 years old!  I can't believe it!  I don't feel old enough to have four children, let alone an 8 year old! Landon's always been so grown acting, so he doesn't change much in that aspect from year to year.  I say it's the curse of being the first born!  When I look at him, he has zero baby features and that makes me so sad!  here are a few fun facts about Landon at 8 years old:

Height: over 48"..I wasn't paying attention when they measured :)
Weight: 61.5 lb
Favorite color: white
Favorite subject in school: math
Favorite thing to do: play sports, also any computer game (iPod, Nintendo DS, the computer, iPad)
Favorite sport: football
Favorite sports team: Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, "Canada" Blue Jays
What he wants to be when he grows up: Sports player
Clothing style:  Loves to wear Under Armour, recently getting into the whole high socks with the designs on the back
Best friend: Cody Lee
Teeth lost: 8
Adult teeth: 8
Finally learned to ride his bike: July 21, 2013
Favorite food: chicken
Favorite snack: watermelon

As you can probably tell by the last two items, Landon is definitely still a health nut!  It started in a kindergarten PE class.  They were talking about eating healthy and he's yet to turn back from that.  He drinks water constantly.  I wish I had the determination like he does.  He'll also pretty much eat anything if you tell him it's healthy and good for him!  I hope that he continues this habit for this rest of his life.  Landon was such a good baby..the best out of the four and he continues to be a great child, despite his OCD tendencies!

The Rest of the Story

I know there were a lot of questions raised when we decided to sell our house. To explain everything, I need to start at the very beginning.  When Chris & I got married, our intentions were to move to the beach. A year after getting married, we had already bought our first house, I started grad school and I was pregnant with Landon so those plans went on hold.  Shortly after Landon was born, I finished grad school and Chris said, out of the blue, that he was ready to move.  It was crazy how everything worked out.  I literally graduated one week, applied and got a job in the next two weeks.  Unfortunately, where I interviewed and got the job was not at the beach, but when you're 24 years old, you can't be picky in my profession..especially with no experience.  Our goal was to move to Johnston County and get five years under my belt before we started looking towards the beach again.  Well, 7 years later, we've had 3 more children, Chris has finished grad school and we've bought two more houses.

Everything was going great, other than the fact that Chris works like crazy and we started feeling like we were "tag team" parenting more than parenting together.  So, one week during my maternity leave, all of a sudden, a job pops up in Wrightsville Beach.  On a whim, I decided to apply for it.  Chris & I were talking later on in the week and decided that if in fact we did want to move, we needed to sell our house as soon as possible.  That way, if I did get a job, I'd be able to leave at any moment rather than worrying about paying rent at the new location and a mortgage at our old house.  So, in June, I contacted a realtor.  She's awesome by the way for anyone looking to buy or sell in Johnston or Wake County.  She has a stager who came to look at the house and give us ideas on things to move around or change to look good for showings. She had a professional photographer who took the pictures to go in our glossy brochures for showings.  Then, finally after a couple of weeks, we came home and the sign was in our yard.  We immediately started getting showings.  Two and a half weeks later, we received an offer and we're closing in August.  In the meantime, I got a call for an interview.  I interviewed and things went great.  Less than a week later, I have a job offer.  I can't believe how well things have worked out.  It's true that when God puts a plan into place, things fall in line so nicely! Now, I'm not going to say I haven't stressed out and had complete meltdowns because we're basically "homeless" for a month, but God has continually shown me signs that this is meant to be and it's all in HIS time and HIS plan.  We are so excited for this next chapter in our lives!

Mouse

Lily is the first of our kids to have an imaginary friend.  It took us a little while to realize who she was talking to because she's always been one to ramble on to herself under her breath.  One day, Chris realized she kept saying Mouse when she talked and she was telling him to do things. I am a little worried because a lot of the time, she's being bossy and saying things that I know she hears us say to her or the boys.  She'll say, "Mouse, you better listen to me or you'll get in time out" and things like that.  She also seems to work through some of her fears with Mouse.  I'll hear her saying, "Mouse, are you scared of the fireworks?  I'm not, are you?"  It's the sweetest thing and I have been able to get a few pictures of her playing with Mouse.

Teaching Mouse how to use the stapler

"Do what I do Mouse" (jumping as far as you can)

She wanted a picture of her and Mouse.."He's right here beside me Momma"

Moving On...

Well, we did it!  We officially sold our home in 2.5 weeks.  To say we were shocked would be an understatement.  We basically put our house on the market just to see what would happen.  Much to our surprise and happiness, it sold almost immediately.  Now, the home we've known longer than any other (3 years, 3 months) will be a home of our family's past.  For the first time that we've moved, I'm actually feeling a little bit of sadness.  This is the first home that Lily and Hattie both knew.  It's also the house that holds the room that was fixed for Hattie that she never even had a chance to sleep in.  We searched for 3 years for the perfect house until we found this one.  Needless to say, we won't be going right out and buying another one.  In the meantime, we'll rent until we find where we want to settle down again.  This time, hopefully permanently.  In the 10 years Chris & I have been married, we've lived in 5 homes, 3 of which we have owned.  Landon is only 8 and he's lived in 4 homes.  Nixon is 5 and he's lived in 3 homes.  I guess you could say at least they're used to change and they are able to adjust to new things well.  In reality, we move move than a military family and at least they receive benefits!  Goodbye old home..hello new!

This was right after we moved in..long enough that Chris had finished off the flower beds, adding the brick border.

Our first Christmas and our first snow in our house...also the first month as a family of five.

Our last month here and our one and only picture at our house as a family of six.

Hattie - 4 Months

My sweet baby girl is 4 Months old!  She's growing up so fast!  She's really becoming an active baby girl!  At four months:

-she weighs 12 lb, 13 oz (21%)
-she is 24" long (30%)
-her head is 40.4 cm (44%)
-she eats 7 ounces every 3-4 hours
-she sleeps from around 8 or 9pm - 7 or 8 am
-she is trying her best to roll over but can't figure out how to tuck her shoulder blade in
-she loves to coo and talk to everyone
-she is definitely an attention hog..she loves for anyone and everyone to talk to her
-she still loves that paci
-she recognizes mommy, daddy and her brothers and sister and smiles so big when she sees us
-she loves to watch tv!
-she is so ticklish on her shoulders, belly and pretty much everywhere else
-has started sleeping in her crib (FINALLY!) and wakes up in a good mood, talking away instead of crying
-she has started gnawing on those hands like crazy.  She is definitely teething and loves for you to rub her gums
-she already has a few nicknames: Patty Deweeze (from her big sister, but somehow has stuck with everyone else), Weezy (from her wheeziness early on and also her middle name) and Pumpkin head.  Chris has tried to call her Spits because she spits up all the time but I refuse to let that be her nickname!

She tried out the pool and loves it!  In fact, the rocking of the pool put her to sleep one day when we were at the beach.  She still loves to snuggle in my arms which I love.  Her crib is still in our room.  Knowing she's the baby, I think me and Chris both are hesitant to let go of this phase.  We love to look in on her before we go to bed and of course I check her out as soon as I wake up in the morning.  It's crazy how she already fits into our little family and it's like she's always been there.  She's so laid back, which I'm assuming you have to be when you're the baby of four!

Flavorfy with DASANI DROPS

A while back, I saw that some people I know had received some free goodies from Influenster.  I decided to find their website and see what it was all about.  I didn't hear anything for a while after I signed up, but all of a sudden, I got an email saying I had qualified for their Flavorfy box.  I was so excited to get my box.  It finally came in this past weekend.  I received a bottle of water and two packs of Dasani Drops - the Mixed Berry and Pineapple Coconut.  They also threw in some coupons for $1.00 off when I go to buy my packs.  Believe me, I'm pretty sure I'll be using those!  These drops are so good!  My kids tried them and they like the mixed berry.  I'm kind of partial to the Pineapple Coconut.  Both of them are really light tasting and the best thing is they have zero calories...unlike most inserts you use to liven your water up! This product is definitely something I'll be using so I can try to get my water in everyday!

Hattie - 3 Months Old!

My baby girl is officially 3 months old.  So hard for me to believe.  I feel like she's growing so fast!  At 3months old, Hattie:

-still eats 6 ounces every four hours
-sleeps around 9 hours a night..she's been known to sleep as much as 12 hours at night depending on naps during the day
-will only sleep in her swing.  It started because of her congestion...now I think it's because of her reflux.  It's something I hope to break in the next month because I can't stand her not sleeping in her crib!
-just switched formulas about 4 days ago.  So far, it seems to be better for her and her spit up has decreased tremendously
-finally started holding her head up.  She still can't hold it up long enough to sit in a bumbo, but she can control it enough to look around
-laughs at all kinds of stuff.  She loves for you to makes funny noises at her and she loves to be sung to...her favorite is Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker.  It seriously calms her down when other things can't.
-is wearing size 6 month clothes.  That's right..my little chunk is already out of her 3 month size!
-is wearing size 2 diapers..we just moved up on those in the last week.
-has so much personality..I can't wait to see it grow as she gets older and how she'll fit in with her two brothers and sister

Five Things Friday

1 - I've been on maternity leave for 13 weeks now.  I have one week left.  I don't even want to think about it.  While I'm extremely lucky that my boss lets me work from home/go in the office 20 hours a week so I don't have to use all my vacation/sick time, I kind of wish I was one of those people that could just let everything go for those 14 weeks.  It's been a stressful time to have maternity leave and I don't think I was able to completely enjoy it because of that.  On the other hand, I got 10 weeks with just me and Hattie that I loved and I'll have 4 complete weeks with all four kids.  Our parents are helping us with the kids this summer like they did last summer so Hattie will be 5 months old before she ever has to go to daycare.  Talk about good timing!

2 - This maternity leave has made me realize I would be a horrible stay-at-home mom.  I'm one of those people that can not start and stop things.  I'd just rather not start something than to be interrupted during the middle of it.  If I stayed at home all the time, nothing would get done in our house!

3 - I started a new running program two weeks after Hattie was born.  I'm now running 3.8 miles three times a week.  4.5 miles if you include my warm-up/cool-down.  I still don't consider myself a runner.  I have to push myself every.single.time.  but I'm hoping eventually I'll be able to just go do it without dreading it.  I'm proud to say I've only missed one week and that was because it rained everyday but one, in which I ran.  I've been trying to count my calories also since week two after Hattie was born.  I've lost 30 lbs since she was born, but i seem to have hit a plateau.  I'm hoping to lose 20 more so we'll see how that goes.

4 - I finally made Lily start potty-training.  She was the kid who had absolutely NO interest.  She was scared to death of any potty, big or small.  Her first week out of daycare, I was determined to get her potty trained though so we went straight big-girl underwear, giving a sticker for every successful bathroom trip.  Once she reached 10 stickers, she got a special trip for a toy with Daddy.  The first two days, I won't lie, she held it until nap time when we put a pull up on. Then, on the third day, it was like she finally figured out how to go and it wasn't scary anymore.  She has been wearing them 3 weeks now with no pee accidents and only one poop accident.  I'd say that's a good start.  Now, if we can only get her to go on the big potty.  Currently, we're having to take her frog potty everywhere! :/

5 - Hattie has been such a great addition to our family.  Believe me when I tell you after two kids, you don't even feel the additional child.   It's like they've always been there.  She sleeps about 12 hours at night and she's just so laid back, it's wonderful.  I hope she stays like that!  The only problem we've had is her congestion.  She's had it like 6 weeks now.  We have to continually use the saline and bulb for her nose and I'm hoping eventually it'll get better.  She also has these crying fits where she just can not be consoled.  I almost feel like it is colic, but when I thought about how much she spit up and the fact that she can't sleep flat on her back, we feel like it's reflux.  The doctor doesn't want to call it that, but Chris has it and I feel like that's what it is.  We finally made an executive decision to change her formula to the Enfamil AR.  We just switched yesterday but so far, no spit up and she hasn't had a crying fit.  Fingers crossed this works because she's so happy and has so much personality otherwise.  I hate to see her in obvious pain!

Hattie - 2 Months!

Hard to believe my baby girl is already two months old!  I've been very purposely enjoying every little detail of her knowing she's my final baby.  But let me tell you, it doesn't slow things down one bit!  Baby girl still is growing so fast!

At two months:
-she weighs 11 lbs, 4.5 oz (50%)
-she is 22.5" long (50%)
-her head is 38.9 cm (70%)
-she is eating 6 ounces every four hours.  At night, she'll usually sleep around 5 - 6 hours at a time
-she laughs/coos/smiles constantly while she's awake...she seems to be such a happy baby!
-she is getting so close to rolling over..she can roll about halfway before she gives up
-she still loves that paci..when she's fighting sleep, she doesn't like to take it because she knows it helps to put her to sleep!
-she can lift her head for short periods of time, but then gets tired and lets it fall
-she has taken her first beach trip and was really good under the tent on the beach
-still loves the swing..puts her to sleep every time!

A Letter to My Hubby

Chris,
Today marks 10 years that we've been married!  10 YEARS!  That's just crazy!  The past ten years have definitely flown by in a hurry.  We've been through a lot in those ten years.  Five houses, four kids, twelve vehicles..the list goes on.  I'm so happy that you're in my life.  I couldn't have found a better husband or father for our kids.  You're always there for me..pushing me when i don't want to be pushed and I can't imagine going through this crazy life without you.  I love you to the moon and back.  I can't wait to celebrate many more anniversaries with you!

My First Stitch Fix

I discovered Stitch Fix through Facebook. One of my sorority sisters had joined and loved the service, so I decided to give it a try.  Basically, it's a styling service that you pay $20 for.  After taking a personal style profile quiz, linking up your Pinterest boards, and requesting certain items, you get a cute little box in the mail with five items.  The items have little cards that tell you how to wear your item or what you could pair it with.  I love this because I'm the type of person that will see something on someone and love it. BUT, I would never have thought to pair the outfit together myself.  You have three days to try your items on.  If you decide to keep all five, you get 25% off your total, subtracting the $20 you've already paid.  If you don't like some or all of the items, you send them back in the pre-paid envelope supplied to you.

Now, on to my first fix...

The first item was a navy stripe scarf.  It was okay, but it was extremely long and I just wasn't sure what to do with all the material.  I didn't even take a picture of it on me.

My second item was a white cardigan.  Of course I loved it because I basically love any sweater.  The card had it paired with a dress/belt and then also jeans and a shirt.  I wouldn't wear the shirt that I had on in this picture underneath it, but I absolutely loved the cardigan on.  It felt so good and was made of really good material.

Third up...a plum wrap dress.  The dress felt really good and it was made from great material, but it looked like crap on me.  That one is definitely going back.

Fourth..a yellow stripe jersey dress.  Lily said, "Oh, i like that one" when she saw it, but I was not impressed with how it looked on me.  It was a pretty dress though.  i was hoping it would look good on, but no such luck.

And finally..a pink top.  This was something I would definitely not have chosen for myself.  I liked the way it looked on, but the price was not something I was willing to pay.  If I had found this same shirt at Target or Old Navy, I probably would've kept it.

Sorry for the crazy pictures.  Chris was taking them and wanting me to pose.  Let's just say modeling is not in my near future!  Overall, it was a really fun way to update your wardrobe...especially if you want some items you wouldn't choose on your own.  I'll probably get another fix just to see how my items improve.  From what I've read, they get closer to your style the more fixes you get.  If anyone is interested in giving it a shot, you can use my code.  I get a referral credit for anyone who places an order so that would be great! :)

Hattie - 1 Month

Hard to believe my baby girl is one month old already!  Before I know it, she'll be moving all around, chasing after her brothers and sister!  At one month, she's still a very good baby.  She's giving Landon a run for his money on the best baby award.

At one month, my little munchkin
-weighs 9 lbs, 14 oz (68%)
-is 21.5" long (67%)
-her head is 37.5 cm (78%)
-eats 4-5 ounces every 3 hours, except at night
-smiles when she hears you talking to her
-loves to "watch" Little Einsteins...I know she can't see the tv, but she absolutely loves the music and will turn her head towards the tv every time it comes on
-she still sleeps very well at night, when she's not fighting sleep.  She's starting to get in the habit of wanting to "party" at 3!
-is still my pride and joy.  I'm just loving this time I get to spend at home with her.  I'm so thankful that I don't have to go back to work at 6 weeks like I did with the other 3 kids.  I don't know how I did it with them, because with her, it feels way too soon!

Hattie - 2 Weeks

Hattie,
My Sweet girl.  Already two weeks! (Well, actually you're a month now, but I'm reminiscing!)  Time is already flying.  I'm really enjoying being home with you and I know at the end of this 12 weeks, I definitely will not want to go back to work!  You're already growing so fast.  Time really does fly when you're having fun I guess!

At two weeks,
-You have slept through the night 3 times already (overachiever)
-You know your momma's voice and will follow me all over the place with your gaze (which I love!)
-You're drinking 4 ounces every 3 hours during the day.  At night, you'll go about 4-5 hours without a bottle
-You weigh 9 lb, 0.5 oz (75%)
-You are 20.75" long (75%)
-Your head is 36.9 cm (90%)
-So far, you love your paci, but you've already figured out that it puts you to sleep

I love you so much already baby girl and I can't wait to see how you grow!
