Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!!

Today, as we tried to pass time on Christmas Eve, the weather was so good that we spent most of the day outside. I'm including a slide show that shows how much fun we had. It felt more like Thanksgiving than it did Christmas!! But tonight, while Santa is so close by (word is that he's in New Zealand right now), and as I sit here with my boys (all 3 of them) in their new Christmas pj's, I can't help but be thankful for all that God has given us. Chris & I have accomplished much in our lives together and we wouldn't be where we are without Jesus in our lives. So, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas, we give thanks also for all that we have. I hope that everyone has a Very Merry Christmas and a Great New Year!!

The Polar Express

Saturday, our family had a fun-filled day. We had to be at the Selma Train Station at 9:00 am. Unfortunately for everyone involved, I had the inside scoop that the buses weren't pulling out until 9:30, which means to me that we didn't have to be there until 9:20! Needless to say, we were the last ones there and the buses pulled out about 5 minutes after we got there. Oh well, we still had plenty of time left. We rode the charter bus to the Raleigh Train Station, where we awaited arrival of the train. When we boarded the train, we headed back toward Selma. On the way back, Santa Claus came around to every boy and girl to ask them what they wanted for Christmas. Landon was so excited. He spotted Santa from a mile away! He couldn't quit talking about it, especially since Santa knew him by name! Nixon was none too thrilled, but I guess that goes with the age. When we got back to Selma, Landon was able to sit on Santa's lap to make sure that he got the whole list right. Then Chris and the boys rode Tommy the Train and walked through the caboose that's on site. We topped the morning off by stopped by "MitDonalds", which of course is Landon's favorite place. Well, there and Pizza Hut! It was a great day filled with loads of fun! I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Mmm..Good...

I think that Nixon has found a new favorite food...not that there's any that he doesn't like. But, tonight, he had Chocolate Oreos for the first time. After one bite, he was hooked. He even tore the cookies apart and licked all the icing before he ate the oreo part. He would pause every few seconds and say Mmm..It was the cutest thing and I tried to get pictures.

On another note, Nixon and Landon both got stuffed elephants Easter weekend last year. Landon's always been attached to his when he goes to bed, but Nixon has started wrapping his arms around his elephant also. Landon was talking about his "Baby Elephant" tonight and I told him that Nixon's elephant was "Mr. Elephante". He said, no, it's an elephant. I had to explain that yes, it is an elephant, but his name is Mr. Elephante. Then, just as pretty as you please, he said, "Well, mine is Baby Elephant, but his name is Lion D." Kids say the darndest things, huh? As they say in Johnston County, God Bless 'Em.

Tis' the Season

Whoo..what a weekend! Nixon hasn't been feeling well lately. The doctor told me that around this age, especially during this time of the year, kids tend to stay sick. But on Thursday, he just didn't sound right to me. So, I decided to take him back to the doctor on Friday morning (they probably know me by name now!). But that momma's intuition was right...RSV...again! Luckily, I think we caught it before it got too bad, because we're already done with our breathing treatments. Now, we're only left with a runny nose. As for Landon, he seems to have picked up a stomach bug that's going around. But luckily, it's only affected his appetite. He's just extremely picky about what he wants to eat. Other than that, he acts just fine.

On a positive note, the boys and I attended two very important graduations this weekend. Chris graduated on Friday with his Masters in Health Education & Promotion. One thing checked off his list! He has worked very hard, keeping his full time job, along with 3 other part time jobs throughout the year on top of his grad school work. The boys and I are very proud of all he has accomplished. I only took a couple of pictures, but there's a cute one of him and the boys. The second one is where Landon wanted to wear his daddy's hat. He thought it was cool I guess. You'll have to ignore him grabbing his private area. He seems to have a fascination with that lately!

The second graduation we attended was my mom's graduation on Saturday. She has worked really hard to receive her Education degree in High School History...I know, she's crazy! We're all very proud of her and we knew she could do it, even when she thought she couldn't. I know that both of them are very excited to be done with school and I couldn't be more proud of either of them.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Last night, as Chris and I were finishing up the boys baths, the phone rang. I went to answer it and who did I hear but Mrs. Claus with a call for a very special boy named Landon! Talk about excited! I called Landon and told him that Santa Claus wanted to talk to him on the phone. After getting over a bought of nervousness, he was all ears! Santa told him that he knew he had been a good boy and that he was going to bring him things like drums, guitar, and dinosaurs for Christmas. He also told Landon that he knew he had a baby brother named Nixon who was going to get some toys too! Santa informed Landon that he liked for kids to leave him cookies and milk in exchange for the presents. Well, after they hung up, you can imagine how excited Landon was. He hurriedly ran to Nixon's room to tell him, "Nic-Nix, Santa called and he said to tell you that he's bringing you baby toys!" I'm so glad we got the whole call taped. While you can't hear what Santa's saying, you can see every reaction from Landon..which is something I won't soon forget. Landon agreed with me that Red, our Elf on the Shelf, probably told Santa what he wanted for Christmas since he's been a good boy and listening at school. Oh, the wonderful world of little boys!!

Is it a Boy thing??

Well, since I posted last, the boys are both at a new daycare, Wilson's Mills Baptist Child Care. Everything seems to have been going well...until this week! Nixon has decided to be a biter again. In the past two days, he has bitten three other kids in his class! I don't know what his deal is! The teacher even told me yesterday that the first time he bit, he and another little boy had toppled over a toy. Well, Nixon landed on top of the little boy and looked at him, then at her, and bit him! It was like it went through his mind that he had the upper hand. I can hear those calls from the high school principal already! My only hope is that at this daycare, they don't seem to mind as much. They're doing everything they can to try to prevent him from doing it. Also, Landon was a biter, so hopefully he'll grow out of it soon!!

What a week!

Most of you know already, but we've had a very trying week. I was scheduled to have a conference on Monday at 1:00 with the Assistant Director at Landon & Nixon's daycare. Since Nixon started the daycare about 6 weeks ago, we've had a time trying to get him adjusted. Seems he has a biting problem that exists only at daycare. Now, this is a little hard for me to comprehend. By no means am I one of those parents who thinks their child does no wrong, but I know when behavior shows up at only one place, something is happening there. So, anyway, he got dismissed from daycare for biting, even though we hadn't been told of his biting problem, except for one other time. Needless to say, I took both boys out immediately and went home to cry/sort it all out. Chris & I discovered later that day that he had been wrongly dismissed and Chris went to confront the Director about it. Chris is not normally one to confront ANYONE, so that tells you how upset we both were. Well, the Director admitted she was wrong and apologized over and over for not giving him a chance. They'll be starting back on Monday and I pray that his biting stops, because this daycare is one of the best in Johnston County and honestly, they just made a mistake. God teaches us to forgive, right?
