A couple of blogs I follow do this every once in while..Seems like a good idea..here we go:
1. A co-worker told me about Pandora Radio (www.pandora.com). It's great! Just type in an artist or song you like. It automatically creates a radio station suited to your tastes. You can "thumbs down" songs you don't like and they won't ever play again on that station. Once you register, you can have multiple stations. Plus, it's FREE!!
2. I started doing the "weight loss" program on the treadmill at the gym and I've started burning a lot more calories. It's crazy how an incline can kick your butt!
3. I'm still really upset about losing my pictures from Nixon's first Easter Egg Hunt and our Zoo trip from Friday. Everyone keeps telling me to check the memory card over and over and somehow they magically appear..we'll see!
4. Sometimes I just really want to be a part-time stay-at-home mom.
5. I'm starting to get serious about taking the CPA exam...Guess that means I need to get out that study guide I bought 2 years ago!
6. Sometimes I wish I was back in college. Life was so much more simple in a Sorority House..who would've thought that??
7. Landon told me on Sunday that he wanted to stay with me and Chris forever and ever! No, really, he did..I have a witness!!
8. We took the boys to the zoo on Friday. It was Landon's second time..his favorite are the elephants and penguins...Nixon's first time..his favorite is all the food. Unfortunately, it started pouring around the end of the trip and I had a WHITE t-shirt on...Oh, what a sight! At least we have a interesting story:)
9. Even though I hated living in Lumberton, I still get really homesick sometimes and I miss certain things..such as our cookouts we used to have all the time with our friends..Christmas Eve at our house..and just having family close by anytime you need/want them.
10. I can't believe Landon will be 4 in just 3 short months and Nixon will be 2 in 5 months!! Crazy..I'm getting to the point where I can see that it would be easier just to have these two..but I still want a little girl REALLY bad!!
Okay..so, not bad huh? Guess you'll learn a little more about our little family this way!

Before I Was a Mom...

Someone sent this to me in an e-mail and I just thought I'd share it with all the moms I know..you'll understand:)
Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Boys Will Be Boys
Every night, when we put Nixon down to sleep, we'll let Landon watch one or two of "his shows" in his bed before we make him go to bed. I know a 3 year old probably shouldn't have a tv in his room, but that's beside the point in this story. Well, last night, we told him he could watch one show, but we didn't realize it was still kind of early, so we let him watch two without saying anything to him about it. When Chris went up to cut the tv off and say prayers, Landon started laughing and said, "I watched TWO shows Daddy." Chris played along and said, "Well, you got me. You watched two shows and I didn't even know it!" Landon was laughing hard by now and said, (with a mischevious smile) "You know what? Wonder Pets was coming on and I was going to trick you and watch 3 shows without telling you!" He's too funny. If this is as bad as it gets, we've got it made!
In other Landon news, he got sent to the Office for the first time last week. The teacher told me that he and another little boy were play fighting and it got out of hand and Landon just hauled off and bit the little boy. She did say that she thinks he did it without thinking because as soon as he did it, you could see all over his face that he knew he was in trouble. He didn't leave any marks on the little boy, but to prove a point, he got sent to the office to call Daddy. Well, as he heard this news, he proceeded to bust out crying and said, "Please don't call my Daddy. I'll be in trouble." She didn't call home because she thought he had learned his lesson and it was definitely not "Landon" behavior. He didn't want to talk about it when he got home because I think he was kind of embarassed about being sent to the office.

We Don't Say That!
Well, if I didn't think I had any "boy" moments so far, I've definitely had one as of this afternoon. When I picked the boys up from school and had them both settled in their carseats, we headed home. Landon proceeded to inform me that "B.T. got in trouble today, he said PeePeeHead." He then went on and on about how, "We get in trouble if we say peepeehead; we don't say peepeehead; it's ugly to say peepeehead (etc, etc, you get the point)." It was like it felt so good to him to be able to say it without worrying about getting in trouble. It's okay to say ugly words if you're just saying that someone else said it, right? What a funny little boy. I have a feeling that I'll be consumed with "boy" moments from here on out!

You Know What They Say About Payback....
Well, Nixon finally got payback today at the daycare. This is the first time he's been on the receiving end of a biting spree. I got nervous when they told me they had some "bad news" when I walked into the doors at the daycare. But luckily, or unluckily (whichever way you choose to look at it), he didn't do anything wrong this time. Apparently, Nixon and another child were fighting over a toy. You know Nixon, he doesn't give up easily. So, anyway the child bit him on the forehead. It looks really bad, especially since he got his haircut this afternoon. You can even count how many teeth the child has! Take a look for yourself!

Chunky Monkey
I took Nixon to the doctor today for his 18 month well check. Everything is going well and for the first time since he's been born, he's out of the 10th percentile! Woo hoo! Landon was always in the 80th and 90th, so it was a big surprise when Nixon started showing up in the 10th. Anyway, I mentioned to Mr. Chris (our great PA that Nixon loves) that he had been having problems with ear infections so I wanted him to check out his ears really good. Luckily, no fluid or infection (Yea!), but he casually mentioned that he had noticed the visits and that was probably why he didn't get his shots at his 15 month well check. (Silence) I said, "Is there a 15 month check up?" He just looked at me like I was crazy and told me there was. I told him the ear infections were not the cause of that..just his moma not scheduling the appointment. I honestly do not remember a 15 month checkup with Landon and told him as much..from what I remember..it's 12...then 18 months..then you don't go back until 2 years old..oh well..no harm done..we got the two shots today. I also mentioned in passing about Nixon being so chubby. He took up for him and said, "Come on..he's average..he's not chunky..he's in the 45 percentile for his weight..(flipping pages)...Oh...he's only in the 20th in height..so yeah, he may appear a little chunkier than most." Oh, my chunky monkey..gets his physique straight from his moma!
