Lillian Ruth Walters was born on December 3, 2010 at 3:49 pm. She weighed 8 lbs, 12 oz and was 21" long. We went into the hospital at 7:30 am to be induced. They started my Pitocin around 8:30 and I was feeling good all day until around 1:00 pm when they checked me and I was 6 cm dilated. By that point, I was ready for something to start happening. Unfortunately, Dr. Bruton got called into an emergency surgery with another doctor and the nurse said it was not a quick surgery. For that reason, they wouldn't break my water until she was out of surgery. At 3:39, she was finally out of surgery and came around to ask if I wanted my water broken. I quickly agreed and she said we'd have a baby within 30 minutes. I told the nurse that I thought I was ready as soon as the doctor walked out. She checked me and I was dilated 10 cm already. She called the doctor and told her I was at 10 when she finished up my paperwork, we'd be ready. I told our nurse, "No, I think I'm ready right now." She looked down and saw part of the baby's head. She told Chris, "Hit the alert button." When he did, Dr. Bruton said, "Did you change your mind?" Her response, "Get in here now!" Needless to say, the baby came out with one push once they finally got the table dropped. It freaks me out now to think that the doctor almost missed it, but then again, it was an easy birth!
